WXYZ/WMYD-TV has named Tony Lamerato Director of Sales. Lamerato comes to the station from Fox Sports Detroit where he was the local sales manager. He managed all client negotiations for major sponsorships and led his team to three years of record-breaking revenue.
Prior to that, Lamerato was the digital sales manager and director of new business development at WDIV-TV, the NBC affiliate in Detroit. He also worked for General Motors “R” Works, now Jack Morton Worldwide, as associate marketing manager for Chevrolet in the North Central Region and marketing manager for Chevrolet national sports and entertainment.
“We are thrilled to have Tony lead our sales efforts,” said Mike Murri, WXYZ/WMYD vice president and general manager. “Tony has a proven track record in sales and really understands the Detroit market. We’re confident that his enthusiasm, talent and passion will lead our sales team to even greater success.”
In 2015, Lamerato was honored by Detroit’s premier business journal, Detroit Magazine, as one of the top 30 in their 30s. He was also recognized in 2015 for his innovation and leadership as one of Oakland County’s executive elite 40 under 40.
“I am thrilled to join the talented staff at Detroit’s most iconic news station,” said Lamerato. “I look forward to bringing local and national advertisers unique solutions across all our WXYZ and WMYD platforms to help them build success in the marketplace.”
Lamerato graduated from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a bachelor of science in business administration. He started his new position on November 7.
