A memorial service has been arranged for former MAB Board President Tom Scanlan.
Scanlan passed away June 1 in Tucson, Arizona at age 76.
The memorial service will be held Friday July 14, 2017 at the Eagle Harbor Community Hall, Eagle Harbor, Michigan (in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula).
Together with his wife Sue, Tom Scanlan built a legacy of television excellence in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.
The MAB Foundation has set up a scholarship/education fund in Tom’s name for those wishing to honor him. Under special instructions on the form please include Tom Scanlan’s name. Tom had a passion broadcasting. Helping young people who want to enter the business would be a fitting tribute to Tom. Curt Smith, who served as MAB Chairman in 2002, shared his thoughts on Tom. Curt, now retired and living in Alpena, worked with Tom on all three of his Michigan television stations. Curt said “Tom was the most positive, inspiring person I’ve known. He had a ability to lead from beside you. His laughter and passion for life was contagious. I’m just one of many people whose life was impacted by Tom. He will be in my heart forever.”
