The Senate Commerce Committee voted to confirm Commissioner Brendan Carr for a full five-year term at the Federal Communications Commission. The Senators approved the nomination in a 14-13 party-line vote. Carr, a Republican, was nominated and confirmed in August to a partial term that was set to expire later this year. Prior to his nomination, Carr served as the FCC’s general counsel. If Carr is confirmed by a Senate floor vote, his full five-year term will begin on July 1, 2018.
