On race day Saturday, WPHM broadcast live from the starting line of the Mackinac race in lower Lake Huron. Sports Director Dennis Stuckey anchored coverage from the studio with WPHM’s Paul Miller and Bayview Yacht Club’s Ted Everingham live on the starting line boat. Due to lack of wind delays, it took over five hours for the all Mackinac boats to begin the race. Miller and Stuckey then headed north to Mackinac Island to broadcast their shows live from the Grand Hotel July 16-17 as boats crossed the finish line.

Gordon, WPHM Director of News and Programming , said “The Port Huron to Mackinac Yacht Race and the Blue Water Fest are the most anticipated events of the year for our community. Race participants, race fans, festival goers and the community as a whole trust WPHM to bring them the most in-depth coverage of both events. We are so thankful for our relationship with Bayview Yacht Club, Port Huron Yacht Club, the City of Port Huron and, of course, our sponsors who make our coverage possible.”

WPHM and it’s sister stations broadcast hourly reports of the race updated by Dennis Stuckey. These reports were also shared on the WPHM Radio Facebook page.
