The annual MAB Advocacy Conference hosted several panels discussing the latest legislative and federal affairs in Lansing and Washington, D.C.
Curtis LeGeyt – Executive VP of Government Relations for the National Association of Broadcasters updated members on the latest issues faced by the broadcasting industry in DC, including spectrum auction, copyright review, retransmission consent, broadcast ownership rules and FM chips in cells phones. LeGeyt also shared effective methods and practices for grassroots advocacy within the industry.
Tim Skubick, one of the longest serving State Capitol correspondents, hosted a panel of pundits which included Zoe Clark, Michigan Radio; Chad Livengood, Detroit News; and Chuck Stokes, WXYZ-TV. The panelists discussed Michigan’s role in this year’s presidential elections, polled the audience on their views of the presidential candidates, dived into prospective candidates for the next gubernatorial election and offered insights on which party will control the Michigan House of Representatives.
